New York City
As you plan your free time during your New York sojourn, there is no shortage of options to choose from.
The city’s great museums include the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, the Guggenheim, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, as well as smaller jewels like the Neue Galerie, the Morgan Library & Museum and the Tenement Museum.
Early May will be the best time of the year to take in a Broadway show, as all 18 new plays and musicals will be up and running in time for the Tony Awards, joining the nearly two dozen already on the boards. The most promising include The Who’s Tommy, the Alicia Keys musical Hell’s Kitchen, Uncle Vanya (starring Steve Carell) and revivals of The Wiz and Cabaret (with Eddie Redmayne). And if you are a Sondheim fan, the excellent Merrily We Roll Along will still be playing. To find discount tickets in advance, Broadway Box and Playbill are your best bets. And for day-of performances, TKTS discount ticket booths can be found at Times Square and Lincoln Center.
